Hey Everyone,
This has been an amazing week so far. We have been doing a lot of service like moving cinder blocks, couches, other furniture and helping people move. We also have been helping out with some landscaping. It is great to be out and working.
Teaching has also been going well, we have two people on date for baptism and hopefully another one this week. While teaching some of the younger investigators can be difficult - they often can simplify and explain doctrine in a beautiful way. Transfers were this week and I get to stay in my area with my trainer (Elder Kirby), but unfortunately Elder Brown will be leaving to head out to the Pleasant Grove area. He has been a great companion and I know he will serve well in his new area.
During the past couple of weeks we have been focusing on the apartments and duplexes in our area, to find new people to teach. There are so many different people with cool experiences I get to hear. There are converts with unique testimonies, immigrants with hard prior lives and members that each have their own faith and story to tell. While it can get tough when a ton of people say they’re not interested, one after another, there is always the support of the spirit and your companion. On the flip side there's nothing like hearing from someone that they want to learn more. We just had a person with a lot of concerns and trials in his life come back from the hospital and the first thing he does is he texts us he wants to come to church. His simple testimony was touching. He said, "I know God is there, I know he knows me, God is Good". Despite what he was dealing with the sincere truth rang out.
We also have a few new people to teach which is exciting especially since a couple people we were teaching turned out to already be members. They had forgotten they had been baptized when they were younger and so they never told us, which was kind of disorienting.
All the missionaries (that wanted to) received the covid vaccination today so hopefully we will be able to eat with members in a couple weeks and the covid restrictions we have will be lightened.
Overall I feel so grateful to be here in Utah. The view is amazing, the people are so kind, and the spirit is stronger than ever.
From,
Elder Cluff
